As we are having another batch of freshly graduates and finished another productive academic year, TaSciEn and our program's coordinators Tiina and Laeticia have organized a small outdoor get-together for all the Sc&E students. As fruitful as our members' study year, our club is honored to celebrates its  4th birthday on the shore of Suolijärvi.

​TaSciEn organised one of its 'classic' board games evening again on 08.10. This time we managed to collaborate with TiTe, and we had a lot of participants (and even some new members) from their side!

Recently, TaSciEn and Autek challenged each other for a game of Beer Pong. 12 Teams from each side competed in a tournament, something Bommari hasn't seen for a while... In the final match, the most powerful teams from each club faced each other, and Autek took the champions title (and a bottle of skumppa)!

TaSciEn + ESN FINT and ESN INTO had a hike near Hervantajärvi and Makkarajärvi on 16.09.2021. The group walked for about 2,5 hours led by Alex, our event official. The roads were a bit muddy after the autumn rains, but people were moving at a nice pace regardless.
After the hike, participants enjoyed the Hiukkanen's mobile sauna Tarzan and some sausages sponsored by TEK at the Hervantajärvi beach.
It was nice to see many people from center campus participating in the event!

After a long time of corona-isolation, it is good to return to in-person events.
About a week ago TaSciEn participated in Hiukkanen's Fuksiweekend - an event where fuksis of both the Finnish and International Bachelor of Science programs participated together to enjoy some outdoor games and sauna. But the day started with important info-sessions, which introduced the major subjects available for students and opportunities they get while studying. For the first time, the info sessions were bilingual, and we thank Hiukkanen for promoting internationality in their organization!
After that, the whole group played some outdoor games aimed at introducing them to the board of Hiukkanen (and TaSciEn - Chairperson Anna and Event Official Alex were there on behalf of the club). These games involved a lot of moving, so later the students enjoyed the evening of sauna to relax. We also offered the opportunity to buy TaSciEn membership and patches, which provoked interest especially in International Students. Our tutor/officer Suvi also offered an impromptu yoga training, which we also hope to organise later as part of the TREY's Wellness Week in November!

The winter might be chilly, you might be silly, but here at TaSciEn we’re always litty! Our February event, which is a part of the Sledding Hill Carnival (Laskiaisrieha in Finnish), introduced many of Tampere University students to a well-known American treat: s’mores!

Created from 2 pieces of crackers (or Graham crackers if you want to be 100% authentic - according to our board member Aaron), a piece of grilled marshmallow and a piece of chocolate, s’mores are basically the sweet, miniature & diabetic version of burgers. But who cares about that in this weather anyway? We from TaSciEn are proud to say that, by helping students around campus make more than 100 s’mores, we have successfully combated the freezing cold and brought smiles to everyone who came (even if some of those smiles are a bit messy from the marshmallow).
